PARTNER DRIBBLING

  1. Each player has a ball and finds a partner.

  2. Partners start by holding their right hands and start dribbling with the left hand.

  2. Each player has a ball and must dribble the ball inside the area. While dribbling, each player tries to knock the other players' balls out of the area.

  3. If a player's ball is knocked out, that player is out of the game, and should sit on the onside and practice dribbling.

  4. Continue until only one player is left, then start a new game with all of the players.

DRIBBLE TAG

  1. Use 4 cones to establish a playing area. This should be larger than used for Bumper Ball.

  5. It is helpful for the coach to holler out who is now "It", so that the other players dribbling will know.

1, 2, 3, STOP!

  1. This drill is designed to teach the jump stop after dribbling. The jump start is done by catching the ball at the same time as landing with both feet after dribbling.

  2. Have all players lined up across at one end of the gym. Each player with a ball.

  3. Coach will demonstrate, dribbling three times and coming to a jump stop while counting out "1, 2, 3, Stop!".

  4. All players will dribble and count out in unison. Work your way across the floor.

  5. Turn around when you get to the other end and repeat.

RED-LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT

  1. All players are at one end of the gym. Each player has a ball.

  2. The coach is in the middle of the floor with a ball to use as a signal.

  3. The coach holds the ball over his head. This indicates that the players should stop.

  4. The coach lowers the ball. This is the signal for the players to start dribbling. When the coach lifts the ball, the players must come to a jump stop. Any player who does not come to a stop must go to the back.

  5. Repeat until all the players have reached the end of the gym.

  6. Start over again, going the other direction.
